Multi-disciplinary Care

Thorough, holistic care for each family and child

Our Annabelle Kids (AKIDS) Team comprises allied health professionals (AHPs) from different disciplines – child psychologists, speech therapists, and occupational therapists, all of whom target key areas of a child’s development. Our AHPs jointly assess, plan, and manage care together with parents and their professional caregivers.

The multi-disciplinary assessment will be followed up with a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary management plan.

Improved Care & Health Outcomes

A multi-disciplinary approach provides a holistic assessment across multiple domains so your child’s needs will be met more comprehensively and appropriately.

How will a
Multi-disciplinary Approach
help my child?

Neurodevelopmental disorders in young children often affect multiple areas of functioning. For example, a child with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) who has feeding difficulties may experience a complex combination of sensory and psychosocial issues. They might lack the oral motor skills to clear their mouth or swallow. It could also be sensory hyper-reactivity that makes certain food textures challenging, hence the selectivity in food. They may experience anxiety when it comes to meal times as it involves social interactions which they struggle to comprehend.

Thoughtful assessment and early intervention promote optimal developmental potential. To address these wide-ranging needs, these children require care across several disciplines.

A multi-disciplinary approach provides holistic care across multiple domains so a child’s needs can be met more comprehensively and appropriately, especially if they are more complex.

Did you Know?

Inter-professional care has been found to yield the most effective and optimal results in the management of neurodevelopmental disorders in children which have high co-morbidity. A multi-disciplinary approach is widely regarded as the recommended practice.
