How We Work

Our Approach

Adapted from the Pyramid of Learning (developed by occupational therapist Kathleen Taylor and special educator Maryann Trott), we go back to the fundamentals of how children learn: Their foundations support higher-order skills.

At AKIDS Explorer EIP, we adopt a progressive curriculum approach: following the upward flow of the pyramid, your children would first learn to process sensory information and develop sensorimotor skills. This supports their perceptual motor development which includes hand-eye coordination and postural adjustment. These skills then enable children to engage in social relationships and academic learning.

As a holistic early intervention programme, we emphasise the development of physical, cognitive, communicative, social and adaptive skills through fun and sustainable programmes.

Our Curriculum

AKIDS Explorer EIP includes activities to develop

  • Motor Skills

  • Adaptive Skills

  • Social Skills

Our programme schedule emphasises

  • Routine

  • Practice opportunities

  • Mastery of skills

To ensure novelty, activities revolve around a designated theme that will last for 4 weeks (e.g., all about me, food, animals).

AKIDS Explorer’s is jointly run by a team of professionals. Together with the team of Associate Psychologists, Joyce and Sharyn strives to help your child succeed in his/her environment.

Age Range & Group Placement

AKIDS Explorers supports children aged 4 to 7 years.

To meet the diverse developmental needs within this age range, we offer two specialised learning groups. After your child’s assessment, we’ll recommend the group that best suits their profile and learning goals.

Why Fit Matters:

Early intervention is most effective when children are supported in a setting that aligns with their abilities and pace of learning. That’s why we prioritise thoughtful placement — to help every child grow with confidence.

  • Parent(s) provide us with the details of your child and any concerns for our Reception Team to assist you.

    • Child’s Name:

    • Child’s Age:

    • Any professional referrals:

    • Would you like to use Baby Bonus/CDA?:

  • An initial consultation and preliminary assessment with our Occupational Therapist, Sharyn, will be arranged to assess your child’s suitability. These are essential to understand how your child's past experiences influence their present abilities, observed behaviours, and unique requirements. A questionnaire will be sent to parents to complete before the session.

  • Sharyn will share with parents her assessment on the same day and provide recommendations on which class would be most suitable for the child, based on his/her needs and age group.

  • Our Reception Team will follow-up with you on the EIP schedule, pricing and any other details.
